Michael Massey
After serving in the United States Army as an Airborne Pathfinder, Michael began his career with the Department of Public Safety in 1999. After completing the North American Standards Parts A & B, Michael went on to become certified in the federal motor carrier safety regulations concerning transportation of hazardous materials by roadway. He also completed and became certified in cargo tank roadway transportation as well as receiving his motorcoach vehicle certification. Michael served as a Field Training Officer for the department and trained numerous officers in regard to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Alliance Program requirements as well as federal and state laws. In 2008, he was one of only five Motor Carrier Compliance Officers to be selected to serve as the commercial vehicle specialist for the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT). During his career with the state, Michael performed over 4000 commercial vehicle and driver inspections. Michael retired from the Department of Public Safety in 2014. He and his wife Becky have four children and live in Tift County where they enjoy raising livestock. Michael’s interests are long range rifle shooting, fishing, hunting and cooking. Michael serves as the Chair for the Tift County Livestock Association, Vice President of the Tift County FFA Alumni and Chairman of the church counsel for Omega United Methodist Church.
